I started in carpentry at 14 and spent my teenage years working in the trades, learning from the ground up how homes actually come together.
What started as a summer job became full-time work, then renovations, building homes, and eventually a business of my own.
Those years shaped the way I believe a home should be built today: with attention to the things you can see, and even more attention to the things you can't.
Because a home isn't just built for possession day. It's built for everything that comes after it.
01 - WHERE IT STARTED
Before homes, there were fences, corrals, and a lot of things that had to be built right the first time.
I grew up learning that if something was worth building, it was worth building properly. At 14, I moved into carpentry and home construction. That's where I learned what homeowners rarely get to see — what happens behind the walls, where quality actually matters, and where shortcuts eventually show up.
02 — LEARNING THE TRADE
The best way to understand how a home is built is to build one.
Working in the trades gave me an education you can't get from a set of plans. I learned how a home actually goes together — and how decisions made early in construction can affect it years later.
It also showed me the difference between something that looks finished and something that's actually built properly underneath.
03 — MAKING IT A CAREER
What started as a job at 14 quickly became something I wanted to build my life around.
Through my teenage years, I kept working in construction, learning the trade hands-on and taking on more responsibility as I went. By the time I was finishing my teenage years, I was already working full-time in the industry.
Those early years gave me an understanding of homes that still shapes the way I build today. Not just how things should look when they're finished, but how they're framed, how the systems come together, and which decisions during construction determine how a home performs years later.
04 — FROM BUILDING TO BUSINESS
Taking on renovations, investment properties and new construction meant becoming responsible for the entire project — plans, budgets, trades, schedules, materials, design decisions and the finished product.
It gave me a different perspective on homebuilding. Quality construction matters, but so does everything surrounding it: good planning, accurate pricing, communication and having someone take ownership of the project from beginning to end.
Those lessons became the foundation for the way we build today.

I've spent more than half my life in construction. The biggest thing it's taught me is that the quality of a home isn't determined by what looks impressive on possession day. It's determined by the hundreds of decisions made along the way — many of which a homeowner will never see.
That's the responsibility I take seriously with every Edgeline home. We're not just building something that needs to look good today. We're building the place someone is going to live their life in.
